DANIEL ROTH

You can bet Daniel Roth is playing his guitar at this very moment. An accomplished musician from a young age, Roth’s first gig was as a founding member of the Aurora-based rock band 'Harpoon Dodger'. His distinctly lush tones and driving melodies were at the heart of the band’s first release in 2005. Roth has since written and recorded with Dala for their albums “Who Do You Think You Are” (2007) and “Everyone is Someone“ (2009); he has toured extensively around Canada with Newmarket based alt-country band “Cavaliers!”. In the last few years, Roth has added the titles of recording engineer and producer to his list of accomplishments. In fact, he spent much of 2008 working on singer/songwriter Luke Nares’ album “Sleepwalking Race”. He is currently producing and recording Cavaliers’ vocalist Britton Allison’s first solo effort. Roth also plays guitar for Toronto’s “Flashlight Radio” & singer/songwriter - Liam Titcomb.

With influences like Neil Young, Ryan Adams, Elliot Smith, and Hayden, it was inevitable that Roth would one day find his voice. In his own words: “Hayden, through his music and singing style, gave me permission to start singing.” Roth’s sincerity as a lyricist is truly striking. He has a gentle and coaxing voice that commands attention, and with his intensity as a guitar player he manages to cast a spell on any audience.

Roth released his first independent record as a singer/songwriter in the winter of 2008. “Just Passing Thru” showcased the drive burgeoning just under the surface, and the promise of something really special to come.  The release of his second record, “Promised Land”, came a year later.  Released in July 2009, the album led to performances at Mariposa and Barriefolk, which garnered great responses from audiences and his peers alike.

Daniel Roth has energy to burn and music has become his fire. You will definitely want to come closer.
